WP3 – Sustainable Practices

Activity 1: Regional trials

Location:
AU, SCRI, SLU, BioForsk, OVA
When: April 2010 – March 2013

Planned result:

  • Determined the impact of NSR climate on productivity & quality & evaluate economic impacts.
  • Identified superior plant material for NSR.
  • Determined damage thresholds for the key important pest and diseases and their relevance for NSR.
  • Defined a regional production blueprint, including harvesting and handling technologies.

Outcomes:

Activity 2: Limited Input & Organic Trials

Location:
AU, SCRI, SLU, BioForsk, OVA
When: March 2010 – March 2013

Planned result:

  • Secured minimum but sufficient nutrient supply in relevant water supply situations.
  • Provided sustainable solutions for the utilization of pesticides within crop production systems.
  • Matched low input systems with viable, resistant plant material.

Outcomes:

Activity 3: Novel Technologies - innovative methodologies for maximising productivity & quality

Location:
AU, SCRI, SLU, BioForsk
When: April 2010 – August 2013

Planned result:

  • Delivered novel strategies for protected culture in pots or in intensive production systems thereby reducing the likelihood of crop loss from climatic events.

Outcomes:

Activity 4: Life Cycle Analysis

Location:
AU
When: Jan 2010 – Sept 2013

Planned result:

  • Knowledge on how production practices influence the carbon footprint & how to reduce the carbon footprint of the NRS berryfruit industry.

Outcomes:
