WP5 – Adaptive Strategies

Activity 1: Adaption to temperature

Location:
AU, Bioforsk, SCRI
When: May 2010 – March 2013

Planned result:

  • Identified selections that show elevated &/or broad tolerance to short & prolonged climatic events & stress.
  • Identified critical phases during which temperature limitations pose risks to crop production.
  • Produce a series of grower& producer-specific guidelines to best serve the future of the industry.

Outcomes:

Activity 2: Adaption to water & nutrients

Location: AU, Bioforsk, SCRI
When: May 2010 – March 2013

Planned result:

  • Evaluated selections under extreme water & nutrient availabilities.
  • Tested the ability to increase tolerance to stressful conditions.
  • Identified critical phases during which water & nutrient limitations pose risks to crop production.

Outcomes:

Activity 3: Modelling

Location: AU, SCRI
When: December 2009 – August 2013

Planned result:

  • Developed web and software-based predictive modeling tools that allow the NSR soft fruit industry to ensure optimal yield & quality with respect to plant material, inputs, climate events, temperature etc.

Outcomes:
