The food system is complex, especially when considering the global sustainability and health challenges. Therefore, research and innovation needed to solve these large global challenges requires an interdisciplinary and collaborative approach.

Aarhus University has established several interdisciplinary centres and networks focussed on the global challenges, these bring together leading expertise from many disciplines to advance the state-of-the-art research. These interdisciplinary initiatives will deliver talent, new knowledge, and innovative technologies and solutions. Several of these large initiatives are aligned to the food area.
