The science team focuses on research in new solutions and technologies that increase the efficiency and reduce the impact on the environment of plant food production, and ensure the quality of plant food products.
An important issue is to understand the physiological processes of plants both above and below ground in the field, and interactions with the agronomic conditions in both organic and conventional cropping systems. The research focus includes cultivation techniques, flowering and growth physiology, cultivars and crop quality. The issues include reduction of losses of nutrients and water, use of pesticides and other methods of pest management, reduction of waste in relation to harvest and storage, biodiversity as well as healthy crop rotations with fertility building crops.
