Eating enjoyment among diagnosed populations and the relation to food choice

Become part of an emerging research field, aiming to increase the scientific knowledge on eating behaviour amongst people suffering from various diseases

Enjoyment of food is pivotal in driving human food choices and feeling quality of life. Yet, for some individuals, enjoyment cannot be taken for granted - this is especially for people suffering from a disease such as stress, anxiety or schizophrenia. These diseases are known for their so-called ‘anhedinic trait’, meaning that the person is not capable of experiencing pleasure to the same extend as people not suffering for the disease.

In this MSc thesis project, you will be part of an emerging research field, aiming to boost the scientific evidence about the prevalence of anhedonic traits among different diagnosed populations e.g. diabetes, cancer, eating disorders, dementia, and explore how anhedonia relates to enjoyment with eating, food choices and health.
In the methodology you will work with existing scales, potentially in collaboration with different professions and depending on the number of ECTS, you can contribute in writing a scientific paper about the findings.
