Linking agronomic performance and seed compositional quality parameters of lupin cultivars across different European agro-climatic environments (Valpro)

How do lupin cultivars respond to different European growing conditions, and how does environment influence both yield and seed compositional quality?

In 2025, a coordinated field experiment was conducted at three European locations (Denmark, Germany, and Italy) using four lupin cultivars. The same batch of lupin seeds was used at all sites, excluding the effect of genetic variability between seed lots and allowing a clear comparison of environmental and agronomic effects.

The project combines agronomic performance with detailed seed compositional analyses, including protein, lipids, sugars, alkaloids etc.

This MSc project aims to link regional agronomic performance with seed compositional quality, supporting cultivar selection and the development of lupin as a sustainable plant-protein crop across Europe.
