MicroRNA in plant-exosomes

Novel microRNAs from plants – what affects their expression?

Plants contain exosomes carrying a cargo of different bioactive compounds including microRNA. In recent years, it has become evident that microRNA has an impact on human health when ingested via foods. However, we are currently lacking knowledge about the content of exosomes and microRNA in different plants (normally used for consumption) and what effect processing (heating, storage etc.) has on the microRNA.

In this project, you will isolate exosomes for different plants and characterise the content of the microRNA. Moreover, the effect of processing of the plant material on the content of exosomes and microRNA will also be assessed.

In the project, you will work with differential centrifugation, different techniques for measuring particle size and also RT-PCR, to name a few methods.
