Knowledge on propagation and cultivation of Spagnum or Leucobryum mosses is scarce, and thus limit our ability to regenerate wild bogs and habitats with these mosses. If knowledge were available this could aid the rewilding to be more efficient and also provide an option for cultivation of mosses as ornamental plants.
AU FOOD has done research on a number of Spagnum species and also Leucobryum glaucum mosses, and raw data is available from the experiments both related to propagation and to effect of fertilizers on growth and development.
The project will focus on analysing the raw data statistically and describe/present results from experiments and identify the most efficient methods. A report/scientific manuscript will be developed also including a review of literature.
The data consist of different moss species, different methods of propagation in and outdoor, different fertilizer concentrations tested, recorded plant growth, fresh and dry weights, plant size, shoot length, no of shoots, different color of species etc. Photo material complement the raw data.
The aim is to develop a scientific manuscript ready to be submitted.
