The droplet generator (Onyx) is a device that can be used for any kind of droplet microfluidic technology. Droplet microfluidics is a high-throughput way to perform different kind of microbiological and molecular experiments, from microbial screening to high-troughput biochemical assays. The microfluidics setup is always divided in two different consecutive parts: the droplet generation and the droplet sorting. Onyx applies to the generation of picoliter droplets where cells, proteins, particles, etc, can be encapsulated.
