Checkmate 3

CheckMate 3 with Zr sensor from Dansensor.

The instrument is applied to measure O2/CO2 in sealed containers as a measure for shelf-life.

  • Checking gas composition before and during storage trials in MAP (modified atmosphere packaging)
  • Supplement to chemical analysis of products during storage/stability tests
  • Measurement of oxygen consumption in Teflon capped glass container or directly in the packaging
  • Oxygen consumption is sign of oxidation and the measurements are used for establishing optimal sampling times points
  • Zr sensor is used for measuring development of CO2 in the packaging, a sign of microbiological spoilage taking place

Figure 2: Checkmate 3 is coupled to a software able to plot the data and export data to an excel sheet. Measurement of oxygen consumption is for instance applied to test activity of antioxidants.

Typical applications

  • MAP packaging and control of modified atmosphere during storage
  • Measurement of oxygen consumption in headspace during shelf-life studies. This is a cost-effective alternative to elaborate and costly GC/MS headspace or similar analyses.
