Microfluidics

Microfluidics. Droplet generation system - large. Droplets, Manufacturer: dolomite

By using the Dolomite Microfluidics system, emulsions, double emulsions, foams, and other, more complex particles can be generated. The system allows the production of oil-in-water (o/w) or water-in-oil (w/o) droplets characterized by very narrow distributions (1-5% monodispersity) and sizes chosen by the user. Over 10.000 monodisperse droplets can be generated per second with a size range from 2 μm to 200 μm in diameter, depending on the microfluidics chip equipped. The sample waste is near 0% and the reproducibility is high, which allows very small-scale fluid control for micro-analysis. At the same time, high-speed imaging of the generated images can be performed using Meros High-Speed Digital Microscope. High-resolution quantitative analysis of the generated droplets at rates below 1 kHz and evaluation at 2 – 15 kHz production rates can be performed.

Examples of the set-up (microfluidics chip, digital microscope, high-pressure pumps) and the generation of oil in water (O/W) emulsions, consisting of sunflower oil and sodium caseinate as an emulsifier (radius 30 μm), are given below.
